February 2008

As I am starting to write this month's update, Valentine's Day is approaching. Yes, I am baking up a storm. I decided to do a baking extravaganza each month for 2008. March looks to bring me some challenges as St. Patrick's Day AND Easter both fall during the month.

February has turned into the start of spring cleaning. The garage and cleaning out the family storage unit kept things jumping. But the times that I'm not dealing with the garage, I've been keeping busy cleaning out that stuff that you always say, I need to go through this stuff.

I decided not do Easter themed cookies but will send out some spring time goodies come April. And at some point during the year I will do a poll and give options for everyone to vote on.

Well, by mid-February things in my life went from concerned to very sad. For those who weren't aware in 1996 I got two cats (sisters/litter mates to boot). Well, sadly I had to say goodbye to one of them. On February 22, Emma left my side. She is very much missed by me and her sister, Zoe. I am finishing up a memorial page for Emma I just need to get the pictures of her uploaded. I had to deal with survival pet grief and I think a bit of depression. I know Zoe still looks around for her sister but I also think there is a part of her that is adjusting quite fine. There are times she has become down right kitten like again. She's going to be 12 on St. Patrick's Day and is still full of energy. I took her to the vet a week after Emma passed and Zoe got a clean bill of health.

I've also been dealing with some "love life" set backs. Tonight I was reading a blog and someone mentioned a "Guy-atus". It is a hiatus from guys. When I read it I thought YES!!!! I NEED a Guy-atus. So while I am only a few hours into this new part of my life, I am glad I can give it a name.

Anyhow, as you can see February certainly brought forth challenges and interesting events. I had hoped to have a Porken update as well as a few new pictures to post. But no such luck. OK, OK, my promise. There will be pictures from March!

Until March.
