2000...The Year In Review!

2000 is behind us now, and what a year it was. What started out as a pretty slow, ordinary year, 2000 quickly became a fun, eventful year for me. Below are some pictures from some of the highlights of this past year.

January

I had my "We Survived The Millennium" Potluck back in mid January to start the New Year off right. I remember the Y2K Bug and all the hype. I also remember just meeting my friend Justin on my left through my friend Adam on my right. Little did I know Justin and I would become very good friends and confidants this year!

 February

Ha ha, Crazy Jeffrey made a big mark in my life this year. A charming, handsome, and clever webcam guy down in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He and I started to chat back in early February. Little did I know he and I would not only become good friends online, but we would meet in person later in the year.

 March-April

A little bit after I met Jeffrey online, a sweet guy in Great Britain stumbled across my website, and he sent me an email. We soon became web friends as well. This was also going to turn out to be a very special friendship , one that would have Jon fly across an ocean to come see the U.S.A. for the first time, and to spend time with me.

May

My buddy Ian turned 5 years old this month. I went out to his house in Independence MO, a suburb of KC. He loves Spiderman, as you can see by this cake that was made specially for him. What a great kiddo!

June

I counted down the days til my big vacation this year to meet my webpal Jeffrey. He and his wacky roomie Jim are shown here on my first morning in Baton Rouge. Jeffrey was making a salad for us on our way out to see the nearby Plantations. Click the picture above to learn more about my trip to Baton Rouge, and all the fun we had!

July

A month after my return from seeing Jeffrey, I had another Potluck Party, this one called "Rainbows of Summer". The theme was pretty self explanatory. Everyone wore rainbow clothes, brought colorful food, and enjoyed a COLORFUL evening!! Here, my little buddy Ian and I looked on as the colorful balloons and food lay in front of us!

August

My friend Craig and I went out to a local AIDS research benefit named the White and Black Party. Everyone was to wear those two neutral colors. You wouldn't believe the combinations of outfits you could see there. From black leather lesbians to white wedding gown bearded hairy-chested gay men. The loud music was the downer, I remember I couldn't hear a thing the whole night! Click on the pic above to read a journal entry I wrote about this wild night out!

October

My friends Jan, Steve, Roberta, Jimbo, Mike, and Kevin all took me out for my birthday to one of my favorite eateries, Houstons. The dinner was nice, and I enjoyed all the company. My mind was elsewhere by now, though. A sweet Brit would be visiting me in a matter of 2 weeks! The anticipation was killing me!

November

What a bittersweet month November turned out to be. Jon made it safely to America, and we spent a wonderful 6 days together. I took this picture at my job. Ironic, I would be laid off of my job just a few weeks later right before Thanksgiving. That's what makes this picture all the more a "keepsake". Click on Jon's pic above to read more about our special time together on his first visit to the U.S.A.

December

A month of recouperating from the tumultuous month of November behind me. I hit the job market looking for work, but also attended my share of Christmas events, and times out with my friends. They are the best. Here, Roberta and I strike a pose at my friend's Dance Studio Party her husband was throwing. Click on the pic above to read all about this dance party!

What a year this has been! Thanks to all the aforementioned for making it a year definitely worth remembering. Y2K, who would have known how exciting it was going to turn out to be?!
