141000, Nashville, TN 37214-1000 The Armor of God We are to wear the armor of God, all the time. God provides
us with armor to do warfare in the name of Christ. Not in our own
strength, but through the power, wisdom and knowledge that God gives
us. Eph. 6:10-17 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord
and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that
you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do
not wrestle against flesh and blook, but against principalities,
against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,
against spiritual hosts of wickness in
the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you
may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to
stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having
put on the breastplate of righteouness, and having shod your feet
with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the
shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery
darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the
sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; (NKJV) verse Note

to go out with the good news of peace). (NKJV) With the preparation of the gospel of peace.
(NKJV) * Invasion of enemy territory How can we be spiritually prepared? These
apply to our personal lives. Abandonment of Idols 1 Sam. 7:3; Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "If you
return to the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the
foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your
hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from
the hand of the Philistines." (NKJV) 2 Chron. 19:3 "Nevertheless good things are found in you, in that you have
removed the wooden images from the land, and have prepared your heart
to seek God." (NKJV) Cleansing of God's Temple 2 Chron. 29:15; And they gathered their brethren, sanctified themselves, and went
according to the commandment of the king, at the words of the Lord,
to cleanse the house of the Lord. (NKJV) Ne. 13:9; Then I commanded then to cleanse the rooms; and I brought back

to Him." (NKJV) Romans 6:11; Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but
alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NKJV) Ro. 14:8; For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the
Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's. (NKJV)

themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. (NKJV) Ga. 2:19 "For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God.
(NKJV) Personal Purification Isa. 52:11; Depart! Depart! Go out from there, touch no unclean thing;
go out from the midst of her, be clean, you who bear the vessels of
the Lord. (NKJV) 2 Tim. 2:21; Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a
vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for
every good work. (NKJV) unclean things include gossip, judging
others, dwelling on and reciting issues that are dead or cause death
(bring repeated grief on yourself and others). John 15:19; "If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet
because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world,
therefore the world hates you. (NKJV) Eph. 5:11; And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of
darkness, but rather expose them. (NKJV) 2 Thes 3:6 But we command you, brethren in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not
according to the tradition which he received from us. (NKJV) Comment (taken from Unger's Bible Handbook): The ground of the warriors strength is his
position "in the Lord". His strength is "the power of His might".
When the Christian takes into account his position in Christ and
appropriates the provided armor, the Holy Spirit empowers him to make
good the new life in resisting Satanic attack. Eph. 6:16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able
to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. (NKJV) Shield of faith *Invincibility - when obedient to God

thee....." (NKJV) (NKJV) Deut. 7:25; "You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fird; you

your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not
leave you nor forsake you. (NKJV) Jos 21:44; The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He has
sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood

moon, clear as the sun, awesome as an army with banners?
(NKJV) * Faith - assures success 2 Chron. 20:20; ***** A defensive weapon Eph 6:16
wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts
of the wicked. He. 11:6; James 1:5,6 Taken from Bible Believer's Commentary of the New Testament
: When the fiery darts of the wicked
one come zooming at him, they will hit the shield and fall harmlessly
to the ground. Faith here is firm confidence in the Lord and his
word. When temptations burn, when circumstances are adverse, when
doubts assail, when shipwreck threatens, faith looks up and says "I
believe God". verse 17 helmet of
salvation Isa. 59:17; 1 Thes. 5:8,9 Eph. 6:18 Praying always, pray about the details;
wisdom, preparation of the heart (fertile ground), opening of ears to
hear, eyes to see. Taken from Bible Believer's Commentary of the New
Testament: Prayer is not mentioned
as a part of the armor; but we would not be overrating its importance
if we say that it is the atmosphere in which the soldier must live
and breathe. It is the spirit in which he must don the armor and face
the foe. Prayer should be continual, not sporadic; a habit; not an
isolated act. Then too the soldier should use all kinds of prayer:
public, private; deliberate and spontaneous; supplication and
intercession; confession and humiliation; praise and
thanksgiving. Prayer should be in the Spirit, that is,
inspired and led by Him. Not rote, watchful against drowsiness, mind
wandering and preoccupation. Prayer requires spiritual keenness,
alertness and concentration. There must be perseverance, keep asking,
seeking and knocking. My thought: As a situation changes and becoming more defined,
continue to pray over the details as you understand them. My Favorite Links:
