Ladies and Gentlemen:
The White Eagle Chapter of Tahosa Lodge (for arrowmen in Arapahoe
District) meets on the First Wedsenday of every month except July.
Meetings start at 7:00, unless otherwise posted, and end promptly
at 8:15, unless otherwise posted. We meet at:
South Valley New Heights Building
3900 E. Arapahoe Rd, Littleton, CO
In March, 2002, the meeting will start at 640pm
and end at 830pm. Please bring 2 dollars for the pizza, and plan
for a fun time. Those who are interested in brotherhood and elangomat
training, please contact the chapter prior to the meeting.
To get here from Littleton and Englewood: Take University South
to Araphoe Road, and head East until Colorado Blvd. We meet at the
South Valley New Heights building (the Salvation Army Building),
that is on the Southwest corner. Please enter and head to the second
floor, where we usually meet.
To get here from Parker and Castle Rock: Take I-25 North to the
Araphoe Road exit. Head West on Arapahoe Road until Colorado Blvd.
We meet at the South Valley New Heights building (the Salvation
Army Building), that is on the Southwest corner. Please enter and
head to the second floor, where we usually meet.
Adviser's Challenge:
If more youth are present at the Chapter meeting than the youth,
the adults are responsible for hosting the snack at the end of the
meeting. If the youth are outnumbered, they host the snack at the
end of the meeting. So far youth have won: 21-2. Way to go guys!
Why we meet where we do:
Our past Chapter Chiefs were asked why the chapter meets where
it does. To this, they replied: "As a chapter, it is important
to pick a meeting place that is suitable for both the lodge and
chapter members. While on one hand the meeting should be were members
are active, it should also be where non-active members can join
the meeting. It is a complicated task in picking a meeting place
to meet the needs of all 500 active chapter members" However
the following criteria is used to do just that:
-Centrally located to the chapter, within speaking
-Able to hold between 10 and 100 arrowmen meeting en masse, and
also the smaller "breakout" sessions.
-Location must be approved by the Lodge and District
In 1998, chapter member Christopher Moore began the tough task
of finding a more central meeting location with the help of others.
They formed an ad hoc committee. To do this, they set out to find
what interest in OA was present throughout the chapter. Several
phone calls and emails later, he found there was interest throughout
the chapter. He then set out to find what meeting place worked for
chapter members. He discovered that most members of the chapter
who were active would go where the meeting was, but that the meetings
were better attended when held in Denver, not Parker. He then set
forth to find a place that would work for both the chapter members
in Parker and also in Littleton. What he found was that the Chapter
meetings would fit best at the LDS Church were Roundtable was held.
However, the meetings soon outgrew that location, and a new search
was begun. The new home was found by Jeffrey Greene, our District
Staff Adviser. That new home was the South Valley New Heights Building.
While the building is not the most centrally located building in
the chapter, we have active members of our chapter come from all
corners. These members drive from North Denver, South of Castle
Rock, and even Parker and Golden. At the current time, there is
no reason to review the location of the Chapter without petition
from the Lodge LEC.
Special thanks to:
Anthony Scriver, Kim Albee, Joey Green, Michael Churchman, Trever
Pfeiffer, Rod Hansen, Dan Morahan, Harry Whitner, and Christopher
Moore, and anyone else we forgot for all of their work in setting
up this location as home of OA. Special thanks again to Jeffrey
Greene for securing our current home. WE has been housed in over
5 different churches in the last 4 years. Thank you to everyone
who helped make it possible, especially the chapter members who
came no matter where the meeting was.
