CASTOFFS September 12, 1977
- What happened with the Edwards? I know that Victor French temporay
left the series, and the roles of the Garvey's was supposed to replace
the Edwards, but what ever happened to an explanation? They could have
said that Edwards went to start his own mill and Johnathon bought his house.
The story writters went our of their way to explain the different dog,
why not the different best friend?

THE HANDYMAN October 3, 1977
- I don't know if I was imagining things or just not paying attention
very well about this nitpick I noticed. Charles was away and Caroline had
the buckboard. When Charles was on his way home, where you see a signpost
9-miles to Walnut Grove it seems like he had the buckboard, but when he
gets to the house he is on one horse. That 9-mile post also made me wonder
how far did the Ingalls live from town? In one episode a boy says he is
moving to a town that Mary says is a half hour away from their place and
they all go to the same school so how far do they live from Walnut Grove.

THE FIGHTER November 21, 1977 (Ninety Minute Episode)
- At the beginning of this
episode, we see Joe Kagen's wife. She is played by Hetty Lester. Later
Joe was interested in Hester Sue, played by the same actress. I guess he
only has one taste in women. :)

MEET ME AT THE FAIR November 28, 1977
- In the scene where they are chasing the hotair balloon that Carrie
is asleep in, you can actually see, if you look at the bottom left hand
corner of the television screen, tracks being made by the vehicle carrying
the camera shooting the scene....

THE RIVALS January 9, 1978
- Did you ever notice that in all the episodes that have non-regular
characters in them, such as children from the school that have a major
role in one episode, that after that one episode where they actually talk
and play a role, they are never seen again in the series. They aren't in
the school or in town. Did these guest-star kids just move to town for
a couple of weeks and then move away??? Same thing goes for the adult guest-stars
who have one episode that they are in. What happens to all these people
after the episode is over??? It's as if they never existed!
Contributed by Paige, June 18, 1997.
Additional: I have the solution! They did not
move away, they all died when Walnut Grove has its yearly plague that seems
to wipe out half the population. Just like when we have new people that
move to Walnut Grove for an episode, we get a plague in which most of the
town dies, but in the next episode you see no noticable drop in the town's
population.
Additional by Alex Trenta, June 29, 1997.
- In this episode the guy Laura likes is named Jimmy Hill, but in the
episode "The Return of Nellie",
Laura mentioned the apple incident to Almanzo and she says the boy's name
was Jeremy Dodds!!!
Contributed by HYPER, July 1, 1997.
- I've noticed that certain "families" occur and reoccur in
the series from time to time. In "Sweet
Sixteen," (saw it this morning on tv) Laura teaches to family
by the name of "Dobkins." Normally I'd not even notice this,
but while I was watching, I remembered that Elmer (The
Election) was also of the family "Dobkins."
- I've also notice that Michael Landon et al (the writers at least) have
kind of stayed "with" the stories when naming various characters
and depicting certain events (ie "Cap Garland" is called for
jury duty in one of the episodes and "mimaceous" [sp?!] is also
mentioned as one of the spelling words that Mrs. Garvey gives during the
spelling bee in the "Harriet's Happenings"
episode).

WHISPER COUNTRY January 16, 1978
- Is there no age requirement for a teaching certificate? Mary is 14.
Laura had to wait till she was 16 in SWEET
SIXTEEN for hers.
Contributed by Alex Trenta, April 26, 1997.
Comment: In the episode
where Laura wants to get her teaching cert. She askes Ms. Wilder if there
is an age limit. Ms. Wilder says no, so Laura takes the test only to fail.
Also her Pa makes her wait.

I REMEMBER, I REMEMBER January 23, 1978
- In this episode, Ma is telling Mary and Laura how her and pa fell in
love. So, my question is, Is Ma suppossed to be older than pa, because
when Ma thinks back to when they were younger, it looks like she is much
older than the young Pa (played by Mathew Laboryteaux).
Contributed by Gabbie T, July 27, 1997.
- When Caroline and Laura are lying in the bed, as Caroline was telling
Laura about the schoolmaster who didn't like Charles and how unfairly he
treated Charles.....At the end of the story Caroline tells her, Laura makes
the comment that she's glad that they didn't have a teacher like that.......Obviously,
a few years made a whole lot of difference in Laura's memory......In the
episode "Troublemaker"
Mr. Applewood treated Laura pretty much the same way the schoolmaster treated
Charles when he was a child.
Contributed by Christi, August 23, 1997.
- Has anyone ever noticed
how in this episode Ma's family is relativly poor, and later in the Christmas
episode where they all tell stories Ma's family is very well off??
Ma is about the same age, so how did she suddenly become very rich or why
did she suddenly become very poor?? The stories just don't mesh.

BE MY FRIEND January 30, 1978 (Ninety minute epsidoe)
- Where is this episode?? I wish they would actually show this episode.
Is this the one where Laura finds a baby and names it Grace? TBS airs LHOP
everyday and they never play it. I realize it is only 90 minutes but they
could run a special movie.
Asked by Sarah M, August 13, 1997.
Answer: According to Steve C, TBS will
be showing the 90 minute episodes during the final week of episodes.
I am fortunate that the stataion I watch my Little House on the Prairie,
VisionTV (Canada's Faith Network
that also airs Highway to Heaven), shows all the episodes in order, including
the 90 minute episodes. Anyone in Canada should be able to find this station
on cable. (...and YES, this is the episode that Laura finds the baby and
names her Grace.)

A MOST PRECIOUS GIFT Feb 27, 1978
- Grace is the only one of the Ingalls girls, besides Laura, who has
reference made to her middle name, and she is given the wrong one! The
real Grace Ingalls' middle name was Pearl, NOT Holbrook.
