TIMES ARE CHANGING (Part One) September 27, 1982
182. TIMES ARE CHANGING (Part Two) October
4, 1982
- This Royal Wilder is completely different from the one who appeared
previously in THE NEPHEWS.
- The series title becomes LITTLE HOUSE: A NEW BEGINNING.
Contributed by Jennifer Slegg, April 26, 1997.
- Didn't Jenny have two older brothers??? Why didn't her father leave
them with one of the two brother's families, instead of an Aunt and Uncle
she had never met???
Contributed by Christi, June 27, 1997.
- Additional: Whatever happened to Pearley (Wilder
vs Wilder)? Royal had said that Almonzo was the only family that she
has, but thats not true, unless they are all dead, which is not known,
we can only assume.
Additional by Belle T, July 17, 1997.
- Additional: Isn't Eliza Jane still alive? She would be
Jenny's aunt.
Additional by Michele J, August 22, 1997.
- Additional: Also, in Season 8, "A
Christmas They Never Forgot," Almonzo mentions having a sister
named Alice. She would also be Jenny's aunt and this fruther increases
the unlikelihood that Laura and Almonzo would be Jenny's only family after
her father Royal died.
Additional by Steve C, December 4, 1997.
- Although we last saw Royal Wilder two seasons previously, Almanzo mentions
he hadn't seen his brother in ten years, thus that amount of time had to
pass between "The Nephews" and
this particular episode. Plus, Almanzo mentions the last time he saw Jenny
was when "she was knee-high to a grasshopper". That means he
must have seen his niece during the ten-year period but that was never
deplicted in a "Little House" episode.
Contributed by Hiphats, June 30, 1997.
- Almonzo mentions that he hasn't seen Jenny since she was knee high
to a grasshopper, but where was Laura at this time? If Jenny is the baby
mentioned in The Nephews, then Laura and Almonzo should have been married
when Almonzo last saw his niece. Where was Laura? She had never seen Jenny
before this time. You would think that if Almonzo went to visit his brother
he would have brought Laura. Another thing- if I remeber right Royal was
wealthy in the episode The Nephews, but by this time he was rather poor.
Must be Medical School and Theology School costed a lot of money and he
went broke. (His two older sons were a doctor and a minister).
Contributed by Lori L, July 25, 1997.
- Almanzo introduced Laura and Royal when Royal and Jenny got off of
the Stagecoach. Didn't they already meet?
Contributed by Jen N, November 12, 1997.
- Apparently we have to assume that Almonzo had two brothers named Royal.
:) In this episode, when Royal gets off the stage, he and Jenny are introduced
to Laura and she says to Royal, "It's nice to finally meet you,"
thus confirming that this Royal isn't the same one as in The Nephews. <wink>
Contributed by Steve C, November 13, 1997.
- Charles has sold his house to move to the city to make more money for
his family selling suits. How does this make more money then running a
farm, a freighting business wil Almonzo, and a partner in running the mill.
Also Caroline is still working full time, yet Charles says he has to many
mouths to feed. He only has one more mouth, he is still taking care of
five kids at home. After Mary became blind and then married Adam, Albert
came to live with the Ingalls, making Charles still having to feed four
kids: Laura, Carrie, Grace and now Albert. When Laura got married, the
Ingalls adopted James and Cassandra, leaving the Ingalls with five kids
to care for. Does one more mouth makes that much difference? I realize
that Charles has always been on the poor side, but with being involved
with the farm, freight, and the mill, and with Caroline's pay, they still
couldn't afford it? They don't even have to support the Blind School like
they did for season 7 when the school moved to Sleepy Eye becasue the state
now pays for that. Even if Charles is still low on cash, can't James or
Albert work? Charles hates the city and they didn't make much money when
they moved to Winiko, so what makes him think it will work this time?

WELCOME TO OLESONVILLE October 11, 1982
- What confusses me is that the Oleson's are cleaning up Mr. Hanson's
old home and this is the big point. But in earlier shows, Mr. Hanson's
hous was turned into the blind school and then later burned down. What's
up with this? I don't know.
Contributed by James M, September 16, 1997.
- In this episode we learn a lot about the town's history which has not
been mentioned previously, including some citizens (namely Lem McCary and
Jess Moffett) who played a crucial role in founding the town. It seems
odd that in all prior references to the town's founding, we've never even
heard these characters mentioned before.
- How is it that Harriet can claim ownership of Hanson's bond? I don't
recall any mention of Hanson leaving the house to the Olesons. Also, the
date on the bond which Harriet finds is 1835 and it is entitled "Walnut
Grove Bond." Yet the town sign says the town was founded in 1840.
It seems if the town already had a name in 1835, then it was certainly
founded before 1840.
- Did Lars Hanson have two large houses? If I recall correctly, it was
Hanson's house that Reverend Alden and the church donated for use of the
blind school in season five, "Blind Journey."
This house also later burned in season six, "May
We Make Them Proud."
All three contributed by Steve C, November 7,
1997.
- Another episode in which there are some pretty prominent other characters
(including the new mayor) whom we never see again!

LITTLE LOU October 25, 1982
- This episode's story was an "original" Bonanza script written
by Michael Landon. He not only "borrowed" his own script idea,
some of the lines from both episodes in the two DIFFERENT tv shows, match
EXACTLY. The Bonanza was titled "It's a Small World" and was
written exclusively FOR Bonanza, long before Little House On the Prairie
came onto television. Mike Landon wrote "It's A Small World"
and obviously, owned the copyright to it.
Contributed by Carol T, June 20, 1997.
- After Lou rescues Nancy from the well, she goes and hugs her mother.
Lou, still wearing the rope he used to be lowered into the well, comes
to her and wipes away a tear from Nancy's eyes. Lou then walks towards
the icehouse, still wearing the rope. The camera then pans across the crowd
to catch their reaction and then moves back to Lou, still walking towards
the icehouse but without the rope. He did not stop, and no one approached
him to remove the rope, so how did the rope come off.

WILD BOY (Part One) November 1, 1982
187. WILD BOY (Part Two) November 8,
1982
- In "The Wild Boy Part 2" Laura tells Mr. Edwards what Matthew
is saying in sign language. But Laura Is behind Matthew. How could she
see what he is saying?

RETURN OF NELLIE November 15, 1982
- Why does everyone run away from home in this show? :)
Contributed by Jennifer Slegg, April 26, 1997.
- In this episode, Laura is explaining to Almanzo an incident between
her, Nellie, and another boy and how she stuffed two apples in her dress
to make herself look "older". She calls the boy Jeremy Dodds,
but in the actual episode, entitled "The
Rivals", the boys name is Jimmy Hill.
Contributed by Susan and HYPER, July 1, 1997.
- Additional: Laura also tells Almanzo in "The Return
of Nellie" that her left apple fell onto the floor, when in this episode
it is her right apple!
Contributed by Mr. USA, September 3, 1997.
- When Nellie is visiting Laura, her hair is up with some hanging down.
In the next scene which is supposed to be only a few hours later, she is
seen talking to Nancy with her hair in the same boufant that she had when
she got off the stagecoach.
Contributed by Jen N, November 22, 1997.
- After Nancy pours ink all over Willie's shirt at the beginning of the
story, look closely at his shirt. In one shot, he's got a lot of ink. In
another, when he tells Nancy "I'm gonna kill you", he doesn't
have the same amount. I guess the wardrobe department must have changed
shirts on him!
Contributed by Hiphats, December 24, 1997.
- The scene in the woods shows Nels and Nellie
searching for Nancy, Nellie sits on a log and in the far away shots her
netting on her hat is up in the wind, but in the close-ups it is down on
her neck.

LOVE November 29, 1982
- After the blind girl (I can't remember her name) comes and she meets
Laura and Almonzo, she meets Rose. Is Rose wearing a plastic disposable
diaper?! It looked like one. They didn't have those then, did they?

THE OLDER BROTHERS January 17, 1983
- Notice that in the episode "The Older Brothers" that Barton's
Bed and Bath is none other than Nellie's Restaurant with a few changes.
Notice the placement of the window, stairs, and the door.
Contributed by Michelle, July 13, 1997.
- How did Edward's get his hat back? Cole Younger took it to Almonzo
and John as proof they has Edwards, and is shown not carrying it when he
gets robbed by the James brothers. Later as the Youngers blow the jail
to turn themselves in, Edwards has his hat back.
- Inflation must have hit Walnut Grove very hard all of sudden. In the
early episodes of the first season, a big deal is made out of pennies,
and the mercantile sells a weeks worth of groceries for 35 cents. When
Charles did his explosive hauling, he made $100, and that was considered
a lot. In this episode, John and Almonzo have no trouble taking out $500
from the bank. I find it even more surprising that Bill Anderson let them.
Business can't be that good. Edwards was already carrying $500 when he
went on his business trip.
- Why is John Carter working as a parnter at the mill? A couple of episodes
ago he was commenting he had so much business at his blacksmith job, he
had to refer some of his customers to the big city because he was getting
behind. Is business slow that he has time to work at the mill? Maybe all
his customer liked the service at the city more.

ONCE UPON A TIME January 24, 1983
- At the end of the episode, Micheal Landon comments that Laura Ingalls
Wilder did publish her books (referring to the real Mrs. Wilder's Books),
and that this time no one made any changes. I find it very ironic that
when Micheal Landon created "Little House on the Prairie" the
TV series, he made many changes as evident by this very nitpickers guild.

HOME AGAIN (Two hour episode) February 7, 1983
- At the end of this episode, Laura's voice over says that Albert went
to medical school and then became the doctor of Walnut Grove, but in THE LAST FAREWELL,
they blew up Walnut Grove and Albert was not yet the doctor.
Contributed by Alex Trenta, based on Nathan's
Nitpick for Episode 204.
Additional: Firstly Albert would have started
college(not even medical school)only one year before the series ended,
but he didn't even do that, because in the episode where he got accepted
into college he died of leukemia.
Additional by Dan D, June 9, 1997.
- Also note that Albert supposedly dies in the movie "Look Back
To Yesterday". If a reunion is made, he could be mentioned as surviving
the illness but still the fact is that the writers and other people in
charge MEANT for it to be known that he died after that episode aired.
So the main thing is that this WAS a continuity mistake. Whether or not
he lives depends on if a seques is made. The upcoming big screen movie
cannot be considered a sequel because it supposedly is a remake of when
the Ingalls girls were young. So until a reunion is made that has an older
Albert still living, he is dead. :-(
Contributed by HYPER, July 1, 1997.
- In this episode, Dr. Baker
tells John Carter that Jason Carter will do well in school with glasses
if he thinks he needs glasses. John Carter then uses the word "touche'"
which was a word first used in 1921 according to Webster's Dictionary.
Contributed by Mr. USA, September 3, 1997.
Thanks to Craig B. for moving this nitpick to the correct episode, February
12, 1998.
- Did anyone notice that at the part where Pa is helping ALbert go through
withdrawel from the morphine and Albert is vommiting all over his legs
and bed, that when they showed the next shot of his legs starting to tremor
again, that his pants and sheets were clean and dry.
Contributed by Belle T, July 18, 1997.
- What's up with all the fake vomit? Gross!
Contributed by Rebecca D, December 9, 1997.
- When Laura and Almonzo say goodbye to Albert and Charles, Jenny is
with them. Albert then asks if he can go to the school to say goodbye to
the class, implying that school is currently in session. So why is Jenny
skipping school?

A CHILD WITH NO NAME February 14, 1983
- If this episode comes right after "Home Again",
why wasn't Laura's second pregnancy announced in the episodes before this.
I was just watching one of my "Little House" tapes and just noticed
this. In Home Again theres no mention of it and in the next episode she
gives birth to a baby boy. It's as if she got pregnant and had the baby
over night. I guess we are suppossed to assume then that 9 months has past
since Pa and Albert's visit.
Contributed by Belle T. July 18, 1997.
- Why does Laura have on frosted eyeshadow right after she gives birth?
I didn't think that frontier women wore makeup anyway.
Contributed by Jen N, December 10, 1997.
- Why didn't Laura and Almonzo ever name their baby? I thought that you
name it right away, or at least by the end of the day. And why does
Laura blame Dr. Baker for her child's death? I thought that he had nothing
to do with anything at all. I also forgot why the baby died. Can you tell
me?

- Laura seems to know this lady very well when she first sees her in
this episode. Seems funny that we never saw her before considering the
show covers the Ingalls entire life since even before they moved to Walnut
Grove!!!
Contributed by HYPER, July 1, 1997.
- The footage just before Mrs. Carter talks to Ruthie shows a horse and
carriage and looks to me to be a photograph. The horse never moved.

FOR THE LOVE OF BLANCHE March 7, 1983
- My nitpick is that Jenny has to spend her time going to take care of
Blanche for Mr.Edwards. What happened to Mathew (the wild boy)? He's not
there to take care of the orangutang, yet he shows up a few episides later
when his father comes to get him.
Contributed by Lianne J, May 23, 1997.
Correction: In actual fact when Mr. Edwards gets
back to Walnut Grove with with Blanche he talks to Almanzo who tells him
that Matthew "the wild boy" went into Minnea with John Carter...This
was the reason that Jenny spent her time watching Blanche. Almanzo also
told him that Jenny could come over and watch Blanche while he was working
at the mill.
