Direct and Bulk Mail Programs

Most Bulk Mail Permits (from your local post office) cost about $150.  For this you get a special bulk mail permit that saves you a few cents off of first class postage.  If you are considering mailing a lot of pieces, a Bulk Mail Permit should be taken into consideration.  The only down side to doing your own Bulk Mail is sorting it down by zip code and having at least 150 pieces to one given zip code.  For a penny or so more, you can also have a minimum of 150 pieces to a 3 or 4 digit zip code (with the last few numbers being different)  That and filling out the post office bulk mail forms when you take it to your post office. (they might as well be in greek!!) At any rate, when you go to your Printer you need to instruct them to print according to the post office code, your bulk mail permit #, City, State and Zip.  If your printer does not know the format, have them contact the post office.
