You NEED something that stands out, something that is different from the norm, an attention getter. Keep this in mind when designing your sign for your establishment, and remember that in this case, "less is more" for an eye catching sign.
Don't forget to make use of rental "portable" signs. Some light up and have arrows.
Banners help to promote your specials, and can be ordered by you, (from a sign company) or at times given for free by your beverage purveyors, (in which case you can "write" your message.) They offer interior banners, as well as plastic weather resistant outdoor banners. Some beer companies also give you illuminated beer signs. Make sure you ask them about this.
As always, when you display any sign or banner outside your establishment, make sure you meet the town's regulations regarding it. Some have limitations even on how many signs, length of time displayed, as well as square footage of illuminated signs. You may need a Permit, sometimes with a drawing of location and type of sign/banner you are going to use.
Don't forget about interior EXIT, liquor warning, restrooms, employees only and total occupancy signs!
